In our Academy there will be a relentless focus on literacy to ensure that our learners not only have the basic skills to fully access the curriculum and achieve, but also to develop the higher order skills associated with the highest levels of success in both the school and the working environment.

As Director of Literacy for the Academy you’ll be the principal advisor to the Principal Director Learning & Teaching on all matters relating to literacy. Working across the Academy you’ll ensure high quality speaking and listening is at the heart of all learning. Through effective CPD for all staff and ensuring appropriate intervention strategies are in place you’ll help drive improvement in literacy for learners of all ages and abilities.

We expect our new Director of Literacy to have a proven track record of formulating and implementing intervention strategies in literacy that engage learners and secure high outcomes. Working cross site and cross phase you will have the opportunity to develop effective and imaginative ways of embedding literacy within the curriculum and learning and teaching.
