The role | Director of Specialism (Design & the Built Environment)

The specialism of Design and the Built environment will pervade the work of the Academy. To ensure the Academy provides the very best learning opportunities in design and the built environment you will work with the other Directors to find imaginative and effective ways of reflecting the specialism within the curriculum.

Building relationships and partnership working with external agencies and the local FE providers to provide 14-19 provision in related fields will be paramount. A key part of this role will be to provide high quality opportunities in the professional aspects of the specialism - preparing learners for careers in architecture, design, engineering, surveying, planning and regeneration, land management, and other related professions. However, the specialism will influence the curriculum for learners of all ages and you will need to work closely with other subject specialists and the assistant directors to ensure this is achieved.

Working closely with the Principal Director for Learning & Teaching you will ensure the specialism permeates the whole curriculum. Our vision will reach beyond the Academy – working with our local communities to develop and promote sustainability and community regeneration.
